Opening Up presents to the Open Government Partnership Summit

Porism’s Mike Thacker presented a ‘soap box’ session on Local Open Standards to delegates at the Open Government Partnership Annual Summit in London on 31 October 2013. The summit was attended by over 1,000 invited delegates (see list) from over 60 countries.

The Summit was introduced by Francis Maude, UK Government Minister with responsibility for Open Data.  Tim Berners-Lee made a keynote speech.

To coincide with the summit, the UK government published the Open Government Partnership UK National Action Plan 2013 to 2015 and the National Information Infrastructure.  These documents include commitments to openly publishing key local authority data.  Porism, via the local government esd-toolkit, is working with Peterborough City Council and the Local Government Association to help councils publish data sets consistently and index them via data.gov.uk.
